Watch... Behind-the-Scenes Footage of the Phone Call Between Putin and Trump
Footage from the "behind-the-scenes" phone call between Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump has been released, including the moments when the Russian president waited for the press to emerge.
Putin made his call to the US President on May 19 from the music school building at the Sirius Education Center in Sochi, where he was on a working visit. This background footage was shown on Sunday by the Rossiya 1 TV channel as part of the program "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin." The footage shows the door to the room where the presidential phone was set up and the call was made, with security guards deployed in front of the entrance.
After the call, the Russian president came out to reporters to explain the details of his conversation with Trump. Media representatives waited in the same building as the music school. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov personally coordinated the arrangements for the press interview. "The president will leave now. Everything is ready," Peskov explained to reporters, urging them to take their seats. He also jokingly asked the media representatives to be careful with the musical instruments on display nearby, joking: "Whoever drops the violin will go to jail, do you hear?"
